PNOC shall continue the rural electrification program initiated in 2002 under the Netherlands government-assisted solar home systems project.
PNOC RC will be the implementing arm of PNOC in the energization of off-grid communities.
The solar home systems (SHS) project will continue the best practices learned in the course of installing 15,100 SHS all over the country. Vital to the success of SHS project are the intensive social preparation of beneficiaries and the provision of after sales maintenance. The different requirements of its customers in terms of systems maintenance and operational assistance will be considered.
As the implementing arm of the DOE, PNOC fully supports the Department's Expanded Rural Electrification Program which aims to provide basic electricity for domestic use to the rural households in off-grid areas where extension of the electricity distribution lines is economically not feasible.
PNOC was recently engaged by the DOE to energize 92 barangays, mostly located in Mindanao through solar home systems. Despite the peace and order situation, PNOC was able to complete the installations within the specified period and is continuing to provide after sales services to the beneficiaries of the program.
DOE and PNOC has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the Electrification of Various Sitios Nationwide Using Photovoltaic Solar Home System. The objective of the MOU is to explore cooperative ways for the implementation of DOE's Sitio Electrification Project.
